Craft > Canoe 3 - The Canoe Shed houses Bill Reid’s famous 50 ft cedar canoe called Loo Taas (back) as well as the Loo-plex, a full scale fibreglass model of the original (foreground) . Both canoes are used for ceremonies, weddings and the annual Skidegate Days canoe races. Both the larger and the smaller canoes were put on display at Expo 86. The following summer Lootaas was paddled back to Skidegate -- the 600-mile voyage being something of a pilgrimage, since it followed old routes the Haida had used in trading ventures.
